One letter domain names are very rare for the reason that in every domain extension there are only 26 possibilities in the English or Latin alphabet to own one of these. Below I’ll share with you who owns a one letter .co domain name.
The rarity of one letter domains is what creates more demand, especially once an extension becomes more popular and in use as .com has been for decades now and other extensions like .co are also in demand for startups and some companies who cannot get their .com because it’s already taken or out of their price range. You may ask if a single letter domain name is so in demand then why aren’t all of them registered and used by companies? Well that’s a good question and there are a few reasons why. In the extension of .com for example Verisign which manages the .com extension has many of the single letter domain names reserved. There are only a few that actually resolve or are owned. One of those names is X.com which is owned by Elon Musk. Google owns and runs X.company. Hence you can see the demand for single letters and who owns them. Another reason they aren’t all registered would be that although they are highly sought after and wanted, not all companies, investors or individuals can afford the going price of a single letter .com or even single letter .co domain name. Let’s dive in.
I’ve gone through the alphabet from a to z checking who owns each .co domain name and here are my discoveries.
Lets’s start with A. Can you take a wild guess who may own the domain name A.co? It’s Amazon my friends. If you type A.co into your browser it forwards to Amazon.com.
B.co is owned by a company called Bestseller and forwards to Bestseller.com
C.co is for sale at Afternic which is GoDaddy’s aftermarket platform. This is a stellar name considering it could be used for Crytpo, Cloud and so many other hot topics that start with a C. Snap it up before it’s to late folks! The domain is currently owned by GoDaddy as part of the NameFind portfolio according to WhoIs.
D.co is also for sale at Afternic. Here is another single letter .co that could be used for so many different things. The domain is currently owned by GoDaddy and is part of the NameFind portfolio according to WhoIs.
E.co has a landing page that says Beginnings and a contact us option. I would imagine this domain is for sale for the right price. This domain is ultra unique because not only is it a one letter .co, but it’s also a domain hack spelling out the word ECO. This one won’t be cheap, I can tell you that.
F.co is another great single letter .co for sale on Afternic. Lots of great possibilities here. Ford, Ferrari, Fiat, Fiesta, etc. etc. This domain is currently owned by GoDaddy as part of the NameFind portfolio according to WhoIs.
G.co is owned by Google and forwards to their URL shortcut just for Google websites. You’ll see this message on their page, “About g.co… You’ve arrived at this page because you typed or linked to “g.co”, Google’s official URL shortcut just for Google websites. Whenever you see a short “g.co” link, you can trust that it will always take you to a Google product or service. You can also use Firebase Dynamic Links to shorten up public URLs across the web.
H.co is also owned by Bestseller who owns B.co. This company was smart and made some good investments early on. Great forward thinking Bestseller!
I.co is for sale at Afternic. I’m really surprised Apple or Facebook never picked this domain up. Apple for their i products and Facebook since they own I.org and Internet.org. This domain is currently owned by GoDaddy as part of the NameFind portfolio according to WhoIs.
J.co is another great single letter .co domain name still for sale and is also listed at Afternic. It’s owned by GoDaddy and part of the NameFind portfolio according to WhoIs.
K.co does not resolve at the time of writing this article. According to WhoIs Amazon Technologies is the owner, so another score for Amazon. It’s a shame this domain doesn’t even point to a landing page.
L.co is also owned by GoDaddy as part of the NameFind portfolio according to WhoIs and is for sale at Afternic. Great name for many things.
M.co is owned by a company called M Smart car sharing. “With M you’ll always find a car in your neighbourhood. Book one hour or as long as you need, unlock with your phone, get in and go.”
N.co is for sale on Afternic and is also owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio. Many options for this domain.
O.co is owned by Overstock.com and was purchased sometimes around 2011. They at one time were going to completely rebrand to O.co but I believe they were a little ahead of their time. At least they still have this domain. It’s an asset to say the least.
P.co is another name owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio and is for sale on Afternic.
Q.co does not resolve at the time of writing this article and is listed under privacy at Domains by Proxy.
R.co is another owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio. GoDaddy is sitting on some great virtual real estate.
S.co is owned by Snapchat and forwards to Snapchat.com. Great domain to own. Sprint could have also benefited from this one. My friend Almarri over at AZ.company owns S.company. Maybe Sprint can pick that one up as it’s also an amazing one letter domain name.
T.co is owned by Twitter and is used as as part of a service to protect users from harmful activity, to provide value for the developer ecosystem, and as a quality signal for surfacing relevant, interesting Tweets.
U.co is owned by, you guessed it… GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio and is for sale at Afternic. I’m curious to see who’ll someday own these one letter .co names and wonder what they’re currently priced at.
V.co is once again owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind portfolio and is for sale at Afternic. Let’s hear it for GoDaddy owning some great one letter .co’s.
W.co is owned by GoDaddy’s NameFind and is listed for sale on Afternic. Lot’s of great possibilities here as with every other one letter GoDaddy owns.
X.co is owned by GoDaddy and used as a URL shortener. Good choice.
Y.co is owned by a company called The Yacht Company. I believe this was a stellar choice for a domain name. Kudos.
Z.co does not resolve to a website at the time of writing this article. This domain is also owned by Amazon according to WhoIs, so that’s three single letter .co’s under Amazon’s umbrella. It’s such a shame such a great domain is not being utilized for forwarding. Z.com is owned by Japan’s #1 Internet Group and is a web publishing platform.
In conclusion there are some very large companies that own some fantastic one letter .co domain names. As you can see it’s these large forward thinking companies that snatch these up and use them or hold them until they decide to develop or sell them. GoDaddy owns the most one letter .co domain names with a total of 13 including their X.co URL shortener. Amazon owns 3 one letter .co’s and Bestseller owns 2. The rest are owned by companies owning just one each. I hope you enjoyed learning this information and will share this with others who may find it as interesting as you and I do. Please feel free to leave your thoughts below. I always like hearing from you.
