Elliot Silver of DomainInvesting.com recently tweeted out that Donuts Inc. had sold Live.chat for $125,000 in an all-cash deal.
I’m speculating Elliot may have heard this at NamesCon Global in Austin, Texas since he’s currently there. That’s one of the great benefits of being at a wonderful conference like NamesCon is that you get to hear a lot of domain talk from hundreds or thousands of people all in the short span of four days.
Just heard that @DonutsInc sold https://t.co/PNJAYkeL6F for $125,000 in an all-cash deal.

The WhoIs record still shows Name.com as the registrar and the domain still has “This platinum domain is available for purchase. If you would like to make an offer, please contact platinums@donuts.email” listed on the records as well so it’s possible it hasn’t gone through the escrow or transfer process yet. We’ll see what happens in the next few days.
I am a fan of the .chat domain extension especially with certain keywords preceding it like Live.chat. It makes complete sense and is just a stellar looking and sounding domain name. I registered the domain name Business.chat back in 2016 and have been holding it since. I always thought it’d be pretty awesome to create a forum for all things business where different chats would take place.
I believe $125,000 was a fair price to buy the domain name Live.chat for and I can see numerous possibilities for the purchaser of this domain name. There is already a software company out there that has a program called Live Chat using the domain name LiveChat.com who may have purchased this domain name but that’s still uncertain at this time. I’m sure there are many others who might want this domain name as well since it could also be a generic term and is a left and right of the dot keyword combination that has 3,666.69 clicks, 54,387.05 impressions, $5,534 cost, 6.7% CTR and $1.51 Avg. CPC.
I hope to see more new generic top level domain name sales or as I call them in short alternative domain extensions like this selling in the near future! There’s a whole new digital frontier to be explored with this new internet real estate and there are endless opportunities for domain investors, branding, marketers, end users and more.
