For years Sex.com held the title for the highest all cash domain name sale at $13,000,000. Recently Voice.com overtook that #1 spot selling for a hefty $30,000,000 price tag to a blockchain startup called Block.one.
Sex.com was sold once in 2005 and once in 2010 according to NameBio. Both times at a very hefty price tag. For the purposes of this article, I am going to use the DNJournal’s reference of sales which only include the one sale of Sex.com at $13,000,000. The DNJournal verifies all of their data stringently, so using their data makes sense here.
There have been other domain names that have sold for over $30,000,000. However those domains were sold with other items like a business or equity in another company etc.
